Launceston By Foot is a locally owned walking tour company, created by people who genuinely love this city and want to share what makes it worth discovering.

We’re storytellers, locals and enthusiastic explorers of our own backyard. We believe the best way to get to know Launceston isn’t simply by seeing its landmarks, but by understanding the stories behind them, noticing the details you might otherwise walk straight past, and knowing where the locals actually go.

  • Our guide, Malc, was very knowledgeable and engaging. He shared a wealth of information about the history of Launceston, its architecture and some of its colourful past residents. There were also recommendations for places to visit of cultural interest, as well as places to eat and drink. His love of the town where he grew up, to which he has returned, was apparent in his animated presentation. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is spending any time in Launceston. It would be a good starting point.

  • This walking tour was absolutely fabulous, I definitely recommend doing it, ideally earlier in your visit to Launceston. You will get to find out all the hidden treasures Launceston has to offer from lovely cafes, restaurants, bars, cute alley ways and historical courtyards. Then there’s all the stories and history of the early settlers and the beautiful buildings they built in the 1800’s, that thankfully remain today! Thankyou Roz!

  • I had the pleasure of doing this tour with guide Malcolm, a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide who was perfect for this type of experience. The tour is gently paced for those who might be concerned about their fitness. There were a few ghost stories thrown in for good measure. My local friend learned some new things about Launceston and I was given many suggestions for local points of interest as a visitor. Recommended.

Having lived in Launceston for about two years I thought I knew a lot about the city's history, but they taught me so many incredible facts and stories that I likely wouldn't have heard anywhere else. They're also super friendly and incredibly helpful for advice on anything else you might want to see or do while you're in the area. If you're visiting Launceston, this is a must-do.
